Tattoos are a common form of body art, using a needle to pierce the skin to produce a permanent layer of ink underneath. But sometimes we wish we could remove tattoos. Thankfully, we can! At La Vie Medspa, we have state-of-the-art Micropen TR removal technology, to remove any unwanted tattoos!

How many sessions will I need to fully remove my tattoo?

Before understanding how Micropen TR tattoo removal works, it is helpful to understand the nature of a tattoo. A tattoo is applied to the skin using an electric tattoo machine containing needles that rapidly and repeatedly puncture the skin and insert pigment into the dermal layer. The dermal layer of your skin is below the top layer, known as the epidermis. As a result, tattoos are not easy to remove—at least they never used to be.

Further adding to the permanency of tattoos are the metallic compounds found in tattoo inks. These metallic compounds include:

• Copper
• Manganese
• Lead
• Mercury

So now that you know exactly what happens when you get a tattoo, let’s talk about what happens when you regret a tattoo!

The number of sessions required to remove a tattoo is highly variable and therefore can never be guaranteed.

Is tattoo removal safe?

There is some level of pain associated with tattoo removal. That said, many say that it hurts less than they expected.

Most patients say that the sensation of removal is comparable to having a tattoo applied, although it’s a common misconception having a tattoo removed is excruciating. Common descriptions include the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin or bacon grease splattering on your skin — basically, it’s uncomfortable but bearable.

When discussing pain with patients, it’s important to share that while they may experience some level of discomfort, the pain is relatively manageable and tolerable. For patients concerned about sensitivity, it may take some tough love or extra convincing to encourage them.

The vast majority of tattoo removal providers offer some form of soothing to the skin during the treatment, whether it be an ointment or lotion of some sort. Offering skin numbing during the procedure allows better patient care and higher patient satisfaction.

Can you completely remove a tattoo?

Tattoo Removal is a process that takes time, dedication, and a clinic with a very good reputation and process to ensure that your body is given the best possible opportunity at completely removing the ink to leave your skin completely bare.

We can control a few aspects of tattoo removal — the technology, our process, and experience. On the other hand, we cannot control everything directly relating to you and the circumstances behind your tattoo.

However, it is important to remember that several factors play into the process, and can both positively and negatively impact your chances of having your tattoo completely removed.

Unfortunately, most, but not every tattoo, can be removed in the average 5-8 sessions in our clinic. Some of the factors that influence, or contribute to how many treatments you may need are out of your control and ours.

Unlike most other Micropens, 95% of all tattoos can be removed completely with our Tattoo Removal service. You should expect approximately a 30% reduction after your first treatment and then a 10-15% reduction for each treatment after that. We recommend one to three treatments to fade a tattoo to prepare it for a cover-up and four to eight treatments for full removal.

If you or someone you know has an unwanted tattoo, don’t worry, we can help! At La Vie Medspa, we have certified specialists to help restore your skin to its previous glory! Contact our office today to get in touch with a specialist. To book an appointment, call us or visit us online!
